Seneschalstown 1-01 Navan O’Mahonys 2-09

On what turned into a desperate evening for football the U-14’s of Seneschalstown and Navan O’Mahonys renewed acquaintances when meeting in Round 5 of the Spring League.

Playing into a strong breeze and struggling to get the ball out of their defence Seneschalstown would have been relatively satisfied to be just six points in arrears but were rocked on the run in towards the interval when O’Mahonys tagged on a goal and a point to open up a ten-point advantage at half time.

On what turned into a desperate evening for football the U-14’s of Seneschalstown and Navan O’Mahonys renewed acquaintances when meeting in Round 5 of the Spring League.

Playing into a strong breeze and struggling to get the ball out of their defence Seneschalstown would have been relatively satisfied to be just six points in arrears but were rocked on the run in towards the interval when O’Mahonys tagged on a goal and a point to open up a ten-point advantage at half time.

With the wind behind them in the second half Seneschalstown looked to make a quick start but after kicking a succession of wides they were further rocked when O’Mahonys got in for a second goal. To their great credit Seneschalstown kept plugging away and Donal Commons soon registered their first score of the game when he rattled the back of the net.

Commons then added a free following a foul on Zach Sheridan but Navan O’Mahonys closed the game out as the rain came teeming down with two further points from play.

Best for Seneschalstown were Donal Commons, Kit Waddington and in the second half Ben Coffey.
