Under 17
Last Friday the U-17 team which won the 2014 Division 4 League following a cracking final when they needed a last gasp Cathal Finnegan point at the end of extra time to defeat Brú na Boinne by one point received their winner’s medals from Dublin Senior manager Jim Gavin who paid a visit to Fr. Tully Park.

Under 14
The U-14 team had a brilliant weekend in Dunganny. Starting on Friday they defeated Skryne and Slane before overcoming Round Towers on Saturday.

They then returned to the Meath Centre of Excellence on Sunday where they faced St. Patrick’s in the semi-final. Playing into a stiff breeze in the first half they would have been delighted to be 1-01 to 0-01 ahead. A brilliant start to the second half saw them kick 1-05 in the first four minutes to pave the way for progression to the final.

In that final they renewed acquaintances with Trim whom they had twice faced last year at U-13 level. Once more they found themselves playing into the breeze which was now accompanied by a misty rain but in spite of Trim getting off to the better start the boys found themselves 2-03 to 0-05 ahead at half time.

Knowing a good start would be crucial at the outset of the second half the team returned to action with only one thing on their mind, goals. And true to form they rattled the back of the Trim net three times in the opening five minutes to virtually engrave their name on the cup.

With a number of key players absent over the weekend such as Ben Coffey, Peter Drummond, Woodley Nicholson, Conor Dunne, Tiernan Keogh and Josh Ryan this puts the depth of talent among this group of players into perspective. The players who were available for selection must be commended for the quality of football which they played and for the exemplary attitude with which they played all their games.
