New Referees Course
Have you ever stood on a sideline and said that ref hasn’t a clue, that’s clearly a black card?
Well having talked the talk this is your opportunity to walk the walk as the Co. Board are currently looking to recruit new referees.
Maybe you could emulate David Coldrick and go on to be regarded as the best referee in the country or perhaps you could follow in the footsteps of Maggie Farrelly and become the first female referee from the club to take charge of men’s matches.
The course takes place in Dunganny on Monday February 15th and Monday February 22nd.
For further information, contact referee’s administrator Donal Smith on refereesadministrator.meath@gaa.ie

Colleges Football
Well done to Marino Institute of Education and our own Shane Mulvany who beat Cadet College in the Corn na Mac Leinn quarter final on Wednesday afternoon to secure their passage to the 3rd Level Finals weekend in Belfast later this month.

Cumann na mBunscol
Half time entertainment at a Meath National Football League game in Páirc Tailteann wouldn’t be the same without the Cumann na mBunscol exhibition games.
Yesterday at half time one of our brightest young talents, Tara Traynor, was one of 20 future Ladies stars who got the opportunity to play in Páirc Tailteann at half time of the Meath and Armagh game.
We look forward to seeing Tara back on the Páirc Tailteann pitch in the future now that all Ladies Adult Finals are to be played there.

Meath
It was a winning start last Sunday for Meath who overcame Armagh by 1-10 to 0-08 in Round 1 of the Allianz National Football League Division 2 in Páirc Tailteann.

Next up is a trip to Enniskillen on Sunday where they take on Fermanagh in Brewster Park at 14:00.

Meath Ladies Senior
Like their male counterparts the Meath Ladies also picked up a win on Sunday when they overcame Sligo by 2-12 to 1-09 in Round 1 of the Lidl National Football League Division 2. A key player on Sunday was Stacey Grimes who posed questions each time she gained possession of the ball with her blistering pace.

Next up is another home game against Cavan in Ballinlough on Sunday at 14:00.

Meath Ladies Minor
The Meath Ladies Minors will get their Leinster Championship campaign up and running this Saturday when welcoming Wicklow to Oldcastle. The game will throw in at 14:00 and we wish all involved the best of luck on Saturday and for the coming year but in particular our three panellists – Kiah Geraghty, Natasha Mullen and Róisín Commons.

Schools Coaching
Twice a month, every month our School Liaison Officer Gerry McDonnell and Mick Dillon go to Kentstown NS and Yellow Furze NS and spend the morning coaching the children in the schools.
Last Thursday Gerry and Mick coached 4th and 5th classes in Kentstown as well as Junior and Senior Infants in Yellow Furze.
Our thanks as always to both schools for their cooperation with this coaching.

Corn Cois Farraige
Following their victory over Le Chéile Educate Together in Round 1 Yellow Furze NS will be looking to make it two from two in Round 2 of the Corn Cois Farraige next Wednesday when they take on Ardcath/Clonalvy in St. Patrick’s GFC Stamullen at 10:30.

Coaching Course
Under guidelines being implemented by the GAA’s Árd Comhairle all Club Management teams must contain an Award 1 coach from this year on.
A large number of our coaches already have this achievement but to help more of our coaches achieve it we are delighted to be hosting an Award 1 Coaching Course suitable for Children’s teams up to U-12. This course will commence on February 29th in the clubhouse.
The Award 1 Course is the next step on from the Foundation Award. Modules cover communication, building and breaking skills, physical literacy, team play and more.
All modules have to be attended to receive full certification and participants must have completed the Foundation Award.
Booking through Jenny Rispin on 087 7811215 or email jenny.rispin.gda.meath@gaa.ie
The cost is €70 per person while if four people from the club attend one place will be free (4 for the price of 3).

Club Lotto
The numbers drawn in this week’s Lotto were 9, 14, 24 and 27. There was no winner of the jackpot of €10,000 which means next week’s jackpot will once more be worth €10,000. The 5 by €25 winners were John Dillon, Mary O’Brien, Angela McDonnell, Mary Owens and James Durkin.

Tickets for the Lotto are €2 or 3 for €5. They can be purchased from committee members, Lotto sellers, local shops or you can also play online at http://www.helpourclub.ie/localhome.asp?
