Senior
The Hoganstand.com Meath SFC takes centre stage this weekend with many Round 2 games down to be played. Our Seniors will be out this evening when they take on neighbours Skryne in Páirc Tailteann at 19:45. With the floodlights at the venerable old venue out of action we will be looking for a bright evening or the closing stages could end up being played in near darkness.
Both sides won their opening round encounters so a close game will be expected, rather like the corresponding Round 2 fixture last year when Skryne won out by two points on a day when we missed seventeen scoring opportunities. Our form recently has been promising and hopefully come 21:10 on Friday evening we’ll have picked up our second brace of points.
The following Saturday, May 21st the Seniors will be back in League action when St. Peter’s Dunboyne visit Fr. Tully Park. Throw in for the Round 7 fixture is down for 19:00.
Junior A
Sunday evening will see our Junior A team play their second match in the Teach na Teamhrach Junior A Football Championship with Meath Hill providing the opposition in Drumconrath.
Meath Hill won their opening match while we lost out to the beaten 2015 finalists Dunsany by three points. The side from North Meath will be very tough opponents but our team is more than capable of picking up their first win of the Championship to date.
Junior C
The Junior C’s lost out to Summerhill in Round 2 of the Reserve League on Monday evening in Fr. Tully Park by 2-20 to 3-07.
U-16
It was a busy and a mixed few days for the U-16’s with a game on Friday evening and another one on Tuesday evening.
Friday saw Ratoath visit Fr. Tully Park and following a tough, hard hitting encounter it was the home side who won out by 5-11 to 4-03.

St. Peter’s Dunboyne then visited Fr. Tully Park on Tuesday evening and on what turned into a horrible evening for a game with the rain coming down in torrents they held out for a deserved six point victory, 3-07 to 1-07.

U-12
The U-12’s travelled to St. Patrick’s in Stamullen for their sixth match of the Group B League. Following two excellent games of football where both clubs saw players put in brilliant performances our boys won out on a cumulative scoreline of 24-19.
Next up for the boys is a home game against Simonstown which is pencilled in for Saturday May 21st.
Senior Ladies
The Senior Ladies had a hectic time in recent days with two matches played in just over twenty-four hours on Sunday and Monday.
On Sunday they played Oldcastle in Fr. Tully Park in a game which saw them pick up their first competitive win of the year as they won out by 1-13 to 0-06.

Having hosted a team from the north of the county on Sunday they played host to a team from the south on Monday as Dunshaughlin’s Royal Gaels came to visit. Buoyed by their win on Sunday the Ladies turned in another impressive performance to win out by 4-13 to 0-04.

Girls U-14
A home semi-final was the prize if the U-14 Girls beat Simonstown on Monday evening and following a cracking display where the girls showed plenty of grit and determination they defeated the North Side Blue by 4-10 to 2-07 at the Proudstown Road venue.

Girls U-12
Another side who had two matches in the last week were the U-12 Girls and like their Senior counterparts they came away with two well earned victories.
On Saturday they entertained Clann na Gael in Fr. Tully Park and despite losing the influential Holly Knowles to a broken bone in her arm they won out by 7-05 to 3-01.

Girls U-10
Coaching continues on Mondays from 18:00 – 19:00.
Club Nursery
Coaching continues in Fr. Tully Park on Saturday at 10:00 for our U-6 players.
Friday night at half time of the Senior Championship game our U-8’s will play their Skryne counterparts in a half time match.
This is a big occasion for them as they take to the hallowed turf in Páirc Tailteann for the first time.
We would encourage all our supporters to give the players from both clubs a huge reception on Friday evening.
The U-8’s will be back in action the following morning when they play Gaeil Colmcille in Grangegodden at 11:00.
The U-10’s are also in action on Saturday in Grangegodden when they play Gaeil Colmcille at 11:00.
They also had a match on Wednesday evening away to Ratoath where they showcased the skills they have been working on in training.
Meath Ladies Minor
It’s a big weekend for the Meath Ladies Minors who bid to book their place in the Leinster Minor B Final on Saturday. To get there they will need to overcome the considerable challenge posed by Carlow.
Throw in on Saturday is at 14:00 and we wish Natasha Mullen, Róisín Commons and all the panel all the best.
Meath U-16
We’re delighted to announce as three players from the U-16 team have been selected on the Meath Development Panel for 2016.
Alan Mulvany, Daire Finnegan and Dylan Keating have all been chosen to form part of the panel and they will don the Meath jersey for the first time as U-16’s this weekend when they travel to Athlone to play Cork, Sligo and Westmeath in a series of matches.
All three have had a busy spring as key members of the U-16 and Minor teams in the club and have all displayed excellent form resulting in their selection on the Development Panel.
Alan has operated as a half forward for the club where he has been notable for his industrious play. His high fitness levels allow him to get up and down the pitch and he can be seen as regularly in the half back line getting in a tackle as he can in the forwards linking the play and kicking scores.
Daire is an incredibly versatile player who over the season to date has predominantly played at midfield for both the Minors and U-16’s while also at times slotting in as a defender. A tenacious tackler who never gives up Daire gets up and down the field more in a match than most such is the engine he possesses.
Dylan is the sharpshooter of the trio. Whenever the slightest opportunity arises the diminutive attacker goes for the jugular and it’s very rare that he fails to take full advantage of a scoring opportunity. Owner of a wizard of a left boot he’s well able to act as a creator too and with the Minors he’s often been the conductor from the half forward line. Like Alan and Daire he won a Minor Championship last year while only fifteen so he’s well able to hold his own against anybody.
Meath U-15’s
We’re also delighted to announce that three of our players have made the Meath U-15 panel for this year.
Having been part of the U-14 panel last year Joseph Moore, Sean Commons and Simon Rooney have all progressed to the U-15 Development Panel.
Joseph is a key player for the U-16’s and Minors at present, playing midfield for the former and wing forward for the latter. A player blessed with an eye for a score and excellent balance he’s one to keep an eye on.
Sean is one of the most accurate players in the club. Comfortable off left and right he flits between the half forward line and midfield for the U-16’s while he has played at full forward in the last few Minor games.
Simon is the rock in the full back line for the U-16’s this year where he loves nothing more than to rise highest to claim possession before bursting out with the ball. An adaptable player he’s also comfortable in the forward line where he has an eye catching ability to fire over long range points.
The three boys will be in action this Saturday when the Meath U-15’s take part in a blitz in Dunganny.
Royal Stars U-13’s
Last Sunday saw Conor McDonnell, Donal Commons and Owen Mullen pull on the Meath jersey for the first time when as part of the Royal Stars U-13’s they played a Kildare XV. Well done to all three and we look forward to seeing them continue to progress in the future.
Meath Ladies U-12’s
In addition to the two Meath Development panels announced above we also got word over the weekend of four of our U-12 Girls being picked on the Meath panel for 2016.
Robyn Murray, Tara Traynor, Charlie Murray and Megan Clarke have all been rewarded for their excellent form so far this year with selection.
Robyn is an absolute powerhouse, operating in goals for the U-14’s and at midfield for the U-12’s. The positions couldn’t be more different but wherever she plays she excels.
Tara has proven to be a player with a keen eye for a score and last weekend hit 1-02 for the U-12 Girls. Earlier in the year Tara played in Páirc Tailteann in the Mini 7’s at half time of a Meath League game.
Charlie is another play anywhere type of player and one who never knows when to quit. Even when carrying an injury, she’s liable to refuse to leave the field and will instead slot in between the posts as seen on Saturday.
Megan is a coach’s dream. Ask her to do something on the field of play and they know it will be carried out to a t. A midfielder of some repute she, like the other three is a key member of the U-14 panel as well and at the recent Féile turned heads with her outstanding displays.
Well done to all four who now carry on our rich tradition of having players on Meath Ladies teams ever since Megan’s mother, Dearbhla O’Carroll came up with the idea of forming the women’s section of the club back at our Dinner Dance in January 1995.

Player of the Week
It takes a great talent to make a huge impact in an U-14 game when still eligible for the U-12 grade but this is exactly what our latest Player of the Week achieved last week.
Charlie Murray was introduced to the fray for the U-14’s against Royal Gaels at half time of last week’s Division. 1 Championship match with her team holding a slender one point lead.
Not long after her introduction the girls fell four points behind but with Charlie proving to be a revelation in the corner they staged a mighty comeback to win out and Charlie more than played her part as she struck for a vital goal and a point while taking quick frees at every opportunity to keep the pressure on the Dunshaughlin girls defence.
Then on Saturday she played a starring role in the U-12’s win over Clann na Gael when showing a willingness to do whatever it took to get the win she slotted in as goalkeeper after picking up an injury.
On top of all this her talent was recognised on a grander stage when she was one of four players off the U-12 team picked on the Meath LGFA U-12 panel.
What a week it was for Charlie and she’s a most deserving recipient of this week’s award.
Club Lotto
The numbers drawn in this week’s Lotto were 4, 6, 7 and 19. There was no winner of the jackpot of €10,000 which means next week’s jackpot will once more be worth €10,000. The 5 by €25 winners were Joe McAuley, Stephanie Byrne, Breege Conneely, Dessie Gray and Aidan Lawlor.

Meath Meet and Greet
The Annual Meet and Greet with the Meath Senior Football and Hurling teams takes place in Tayto Park on Friday May 20th between 18:30 and 20:30.
This has proven to be a great evening for the last few years and no doubt will prove to be a huge success once more this year.
Lorteo U-14
Best of luck to Sinéad McLarney, Lauren McCarthy, Lauren Donnelly, Orla Finnegan, Aoibhé Monaghan, Caragh Monaghan and all the Loreto, Navan U-14 team in their Leinster Championship semi-final today at 11:30 in Dunganny.
Having taken care of Loreto Foxrock in the quarter final they face Holy Faith from Clontarf in today’s semi-final.
Having accounted for one Dublin school it would take a brave person to say they won’t topple another!
Kellogg’s Cúl Camp

Jack Boothman RIP
It is with great sadness that we learned this morning of the passing of former GAA President Jack Boothman.
Jack will forever be remembered in Seneschalstown as the special guest at our Dinner Dance in 1995 following our Keegan Cup victory the previous Autumn.

Championship Double Header
Saturday evening will see Fr. Tully Park play host to a Championship double header with Duleek/Bellewstown playing St. Patrick’s at 19:00 in Round 2 of the hoganstand.com Meath SFC and Gaeil Colmcille playing Kilbride in Round 2 of the Seamus Connolly Catering Meath JBFC at 17:30.
