Coca Cola Meath Ladies Junior C Championship Round 6

Simonstown 7-28 Seneschalstown 2-04

Seneschalstown were well beaten by a very strong and skill full Simonstown outfit in Round 6 of the Junior C championship.

Sort a number of regulars due to holidays and with a more taking to the field with a few niggles, the Furze Girls kept going in the face of adversity and never stopped trying right up to the final whistle.

Simonstown opened the scoring in the second minute with a point from play but a minute later Seneschalstown scored the opening goal of the game when following good work from Kelly Smith and debutante Aoife Mulvany, Lucinda Healy blasted the ball to the roof of the Simonstown net. This was as good as it got for the visitors as Simonstown drove on scoring at regular intervals despite the best efforts of the Seneschalstown team who tried and tried and despite winning some decent possession at times, either a bad pass or Simonstown tackling meant they could not build any momentum.

Midway through the half Lucinda Healy scored a point from play. The performance of Linda Quinn in the Seneschalstown goal was heroic as she made several excellent saves.

In the second half two points from Emer Smith and 1-01 from Healy along with an improved display which could have yielded some more scores. Again Quinn was in outstanding form and the ladies never gave up and with just the fifteen players a few players who got knocks had to carry on for the cause.

Next up is a home game against Royal Gaels and qualification for the knockout stages is still achievable.

Seneschalstown: Linda Quinn, Elaine Byrne, Dervla Clarke, Grainne Gordon, Catherine Smyth, Laura Wall, Eve Loughran, Grace Cahalane, Aoife Lenehan, Shirley Quinn, Emer Smith (0-02), Aoife Sheehy, Kelly Smith, Lucinda Healy (2-02), Aoife Mulvany.
