Seneschalstown GFC Club Notes 8th September 2021

Meath Ladies: September 5th September 2021 will be a date never forgotton in the annals of football in this county, as the superb
Meath Ladies defied the expectations of just about everyone bar themselves by winning the TG4 Senior Football Championship for the first time ever. Emma Duggan’s goal proved to be crucial as the girls in green deservedly won by 1-11 to 0-12. Stacey Grimes notched three points for herself, including a vital point right at the end of the third quarter to swing the tide back in Meath’s favour.
Playing in their first final at this level, the team looked unfazed throughout and confidently ran down the clock as the minutes ticked by towards the end. It’s a remarkable triumph for a team only promoted from Intermediate football and who hadn’t played Senior football since 2016.

We would like to congratulate Stacey Grimes, Caragh Monaghan and Aoibhe Monaghan, the first All-Ireland Senior Medallists in the club since Graham Geraghty in 1999. Well done to everyone involved.
