An absorbing game from start to finish played out in Walterstown last Monday where these 2 clubs so closely linked by proximity, history, family and friends lived up to the intense rivalry that these two clubs produce and bring out the best in each other.

From the off the game ebbed and flowed with the Walterstown girls enjoying the better beginning and finished the 1st half 4 points ahead 1-6 to 1-2. Lauren Donnelly enjoying a superb game opened the scoring for the visitors before the returning from injury Ava Jane Ryan found the back of the net and Orla Finnegan sending over a point before the half time whistle.

The second half turned the game into a thriller with Mallaidh Breen scoring 2 points and Ava Jane Ryan finding the black spot. Walterstown kept their scoreboard ticking over with Mollie Brown in particular enjoying a very productive evening. An absolute fantastic display from Leanne Clarke in defence kept the Furze girls in contention. A rock in defence Leanne was masterful in reading the game and her reputation grows with every game. The rehabilitation of Sorcha Gough continues and being introduced added impetus to the Furze cause and with superb combination play with her cousin Caragh Monaghan resulting in 3 points from Gough and a thunderbolt goal from Monaghan really put it up to the Walterstown. Another cracking shot hit the crossbar from Caragh Monaghan who was extremely unlucky not to level the game. Pressing forward she found a point shortly after but Walterstown were not for denying and responded well with some well taken scores.
